Story/Charaktere:  

Gut ausgearbeitete Indiana-Jones-artige Story, die den Spieler von Hongkong über den Himalaja und Marokko bis ins tiefste Nazi-Deutschland führt. Besondere Raffinesse am Ende: Man steuert abwechselnd zwei Figuren, die sich zwar am selben Ort, jedoch in unterschiedlichen Zeiten befinden.

Rätsel:  

Man kann nicht sagen, daß die Rätsel „schlecht“ wären – aber für Hardcore-Rätselfreunde wie ich einer bin ist das Spiel deutlich zu einfach. Es gab keine Stelle, an der ich mal länger als 20 Sekunden überlegen mußte. Oft war es sogar so, daß ich bereits alle Gegenstände eingesammelt und zu irgendetwas zusammengebaut hatte, noch bevor ich überhaupt erfahren hatte, wozu ich es brauchte und was mein nächster Auftrag war.

Grafik:  

Fantastisch! Das Spiel kommt nicht in „realistischer“ 3D-Grafik daher, sondern in wunderschönen handgezeichneten Bildern voller Atmosphäre. Glänzende Straßen, glühende Lampions, leuchtende Fenster, bunte Lichter … Man hat das Gefühl, man könnte den Regen von Hongkong und die trockene Hitze von Marrakesch spüren!

Sound:  

Ausgezeichnet! Das Spiel ist mit schöner Orchestermusik untermalt, und die Sprecher sind allesamt sehr gut. Hier und da erkennt man sogar Synchronstimmen aus Film und Fernsehen wieder! Minimalen Abzug gibt es für die Stimme der weiblichen Hauptrolle Kim, die mir mit ihrem Tussi-Gequietsche tierisch auf die Nerven ging.

Steuerung:  

Simpel: Rechtsklick = gucken, Linksklick = nehmen/benutzen. Mit Doppelklick laufen die Figuren schneller bzw. wechseln sofort ins nächste Bild. Das Inventar ist übersichtlich. Alles in allem nichts auszusetzen.

Gesamtwertung:  

Ein sehr gelungenes Spiel mit toller Atmosphäre, in die man ganz und gar eintauchen kann. Mit „Lost Horizon“ hat sich Deep Silver (nach „Geheimakte Tunguska“ und „Geheimakte 2: Puritas Cordis“) endgültig für meine Liste der verläßlichen Adventure-Macher qualifiziert. ;)

Story/Characters:  

Well-elaborated Indiana-Jones-like story that takes the player from Hong Kong across the Himalaya and Morocco right to the heart of Nazi Germany. Special finesse at the end: You control two characters located in the same place, but in different times.

Puzzles:  

I wouldn’t exactly say that the puzzles are „bad“ – but for hardcore riddlers like me, the game is far too simple. There was no point where I had to think longer than 20 seconds. Often I had already collected and assembled all items, before I even knew what I needed them for or what my next task was.

Graphics:  

Fantastic! The game doesn’t have „realistic“ 3D graphics, but instead beautiful hand-drawn pictures full of atmosphere. Shiny streets, gleaming lanterns, glowing windows, colored lights … You can almost feel the rain in Hong Kong and the dry heat of Marrakech!

Sound:  

Excellent! The game is accompanied with beautiful orchestral music, and the voice actors are all very good. Here and there you can even recognize some well-known dubbing voices from movies and television! A minimal deduction for the voice of the female lead Kim, who was really getting on my nerves with her shrill girlie voice.

Controls:  

Simple: right click = look, left click = take/use. Double click makes the characters run faster or go immediately to the next image. The inventory is neat. All in all, nothing wrong.

Overall rating:  

A very well-done game with a great atmosphere to completely immerse in. With „Lost Horizon“, Deep Silver have (after „Secret Files: Tunguska“ and „Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis“) finally qualified for my list of reliable adventure makers. ;)
