“Something’s different here… If only I knew what!”
Did you feel the same when you entered this site today? If so: Congratulations, you got an extraordinarily good cognitive ability!
As you can see, I have finally managed to create my very own WordPress theme after more than a year. The former variants were just modifications of another theme that I liked pretty well. Now however, the site shines in the splendor of my personal style for the very first time, yes, the design bears my handwriting in the true sense of the word!
I started working on this theme about half a year ago already – under the working title “Ginchen altmodisch” (“Ginchen oldfashioned”). ;) For the first file, “schreibtisch.psd” (“desk.psd”), the Windows Explorer testifies the 4th October 2008 as the creation date. But, you know, what with one thing and another… *cough*
By now, I simply call the theme “Ginchen classic”, and it is my pride and joy. Everything is exactly to my taste, and every pixel has its sense here. Of course, it is very graphics-heavy: On every site view, over 1 MB of graphics have to be loaded, although I already tried hard to keep everything as small as possible. But since this is a private website, the visitors of which are probably mainly people with a relatively fast connection, I can overlook that with a clean conscience. Besides, I tested the loading time at Pingdom and got a result of 7,2 seconds. That is a lot indeed, but then again, it’s not so much that I have to rack my brain about it. Considering how long it took to load a website with a few animated GIFs ten years ago … :D
A majority of the pictures I used come from Wikipedia. A few are free graphics from other sources, and others again I photographed or drew and scanned myself. I will have to sit down and note the sources here somwhere, as the licenses require it. But first I need to take a breather. ;)
All told, I hope you like my theme. I am not going to share it however! :P

P.S.: I just notice that my Google PageRank, which was at 1 late last year, has meanwhile climbed up to 3. That’s something already! :D

Das neue Desingn ist echt schön, das muss man einfach mal neidvoll sagen!!
Abgesehen davon – ist das hier nun mein 7ter Kommentarversuch, das will bisher nicht klappen. Vermutlich bin ich eh schon geblockt. Dabei war ich doch einfach nur überrascht, Mike unter den Fotos zu finden und frage mich, seit wann Du so ein Fan von ihm bist.

Ja, bei den Kommentaren stimmt irgendwas nicht… Besonders im IE kann es sein, daß das rumspackt. Das ist aber dessen schuld, nicht meine. ;)
Außerdem muß im Moment Javascript aktiviert sein, um Kommentare abzuschicken – lag es vielleicht daran? Oder schreib’ mir mal ‘ne Mail mit genauer Fehlerbeschreibung. ;)
Naja, und das mit Mike Oldfield kann ich Dir ganz genau sagen: Ich fand ihn ja schon immer sehr, sehr, sehr, sehr, sehr, sehr, sehr gut, aber im Juli 2007 traf ich jemanden, der mich mal wieder so richtig daran erinnerte. Seitdem bin ich ein hoffnungsloser Fall. ;)

Aber nun hats ja funktioniert.
Dieser geheimnisvolle “Jemand”, ich nenne ihn mal Mister X, war das nicht auch der, der unseren Film gut findet? Ich erinnere mich da an ein Posting in einem anderen Forum…

Stimmt, hatte ich ja schonmal erzählt… Ja, genau der 60er/70er-Jahre-Altrocker, der unseren Film gut fand. ;)
Wenn Du mit “Spiel” dieses Tr3s-Lunas-Dings da meinst: Das habe ich zwar hier liegen, aber die Inzwischen-Uralt-Grafik sowie die Erinnerung, die ich daran habe – irgendwo in einer total abgespaceten Welt rumstehen und absolut nicht wissen, worum es geht :D – schrecken mich ab, es überhaupt nochmal zu versuchen.
Danach kam ja auch noch “Maestro”. Auch das hab’ ich hier liegen und noch nie installiert. Irgendwie schnall ich halt nicht, was man da machen soll. :D Gibt ja auch keine Einführung/Anleitung/Tutorial.
Und wegen dem Kommentieren: Vermutlich hattest Du einfach noch die alte, kaputte Version von gestern im Cache. ;) Ich hab’ da nämlich gestern abend noch was repariert.
WOW – das neue Design ist schick, gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut. Heißt nicht umsonst gut Ding will Weile haben.
