There was no particularly descriptive error message. At first I thought that it was just some server that could not be reached. But when it still didn&#8217;t work after days, I began to investigate and found <a  rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en\/w7itprosecurity\/thread\/2ae1dcc2-c0d6-4f58-b758-e5c2e3b0cdc7\">a solution in the Microsoft forums<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The problem is apparently caused by faulty system files. To find and repair them, there is the <span class=\"nobr\"><strong>S<\/strong>ystem <strong>F<\/strong>ile <strong>C<\/strong>hecker<\/span> (<code>sfc.exe<\/code>). And here&#8217;s how you use it:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Start Menu \u2192 &#8220;All Programs&#8221; \u2192 &#8220;Accessories&#8221; \u2192 right click &#8220;Command Prompt&#8221; \u2192 &#8220;Run as administrator&#8221;. Should you be prompted for an administrator password or a simple confirmation, type in the password or click &#8220;Allow&#8221;.<\/li>\r\n<li>At the command prompt, type the following command and press &#8220;Enter&#8221;:<br \/>\r\n<code>sfc \/scannow<\/code><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n<p>The program will now scan all system files and replace incorrect versions with the correct ones from Microsoft.
