Now, if you own an image management program anyway (such as the free <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.xnview.com\/en\/xnview\/#downloads\">XnView<\/a>), you can somewhat circumvent this problem, because those are usually able to display PSDs; however, sometimes you just want to quickly search for a certain Photoshop file and don&#8217;t really want to start such a program just for that.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<br class=\"clear\" \/>\r\n\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_3758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3758\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/psd-nachher.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/psd-nachher-200x142.jpg\" alt=\"After\" title=\"After\" width=\"200\" height=\"142\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3758\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/psd-nachher-200x142.jpg 200w, http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/psd-nachher-300x213.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/psd-nachher.jpg 383w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n<p>After I had been annoyed by this for quite some time, I recently decided to google for a solution, and lo and behold: There is one &#8211; since 2005, in fact! You just have to download <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ginchen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/PSD_Thumbnail_Explorer.zip\">this .zip file<\/a> and unzip the included file <code>psicon.dll<\/code> to the folder <code>C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell<\/code> (in&nbsp;Windows&nbsp;Vista\/7:\r\n<code>C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell<\/code>). If this folder doesn&#8217;t exist, just create it. Then double-click <code>Adobe.reg<\/code>, and you can finally admire your .psd files as thumbnails in your Explorer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><small><em>(This great little DLL is originally from <a  rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flexbeta.net\/forums\/index.php?showtopic=8028&#038;st=0\">here<\/a>, but the download link is dead.
