The result is what can be seen on the picture here. (I wasn’t able to find an angle and incidence of light with my camera without having the color sparkle on some spot – so please assume that away.) ;) If you ever couldn’t sleep and then got stuck with “Bob Ross – The Joy of Painting” while channel-hopping, you might notice that my painting looks quite similar to his ones. Indeed it has been done using his painting technique – yes, I even had one of his videos running alongside while painting. That’s why I’ll name it after its model: “A mild winter’s day”.

The only thing I did different than Bob: I covered the canvas with my cheap linseed oil at the beginning instead of the expensive “Liquid Clear” that he always uses in his show. I don’t have a direct comparison now, but it worked out fine, and I hardly believe you would notice an overwhelming difference to “Liquid Clear”. Furthermore, linseed oil has proven itself for hundreds of years already – after all, artists didn’t have “Liquid Clear” in former times either.

Sure, my work is anything but perfect (partially far too colorful, the sky far too dark, the clouds far too clunky etc.), but I think, for the very first time with brush and colors it is more than okay! Because actually – and I want to emphasize this very strong here – I am not exactly talented when it comes to painting and drawing. That’s why I really suggest everybody to give it a try.
