We of the Shattered Sun!
Saturday, 17th October 2009 by GinchenI don’t know if anybody noticed – this column doesn’t probably have too many readers after all ;) –, but lately, the beautiful character information here on the site hadn’t been updated anymore. That was because our server had to move unexpectedly, and while they were at it, they just renewed the Armory, too. This took a few days (or was it weeks?), but now everything is up and working again – and even better than before. There’s only one funny problem with the display of the socketed gems, but well, I think you can imagine anyway what gems we will roughly have socketed.
A week ago, we finally obtained an exalted reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive – after two and a half grueling and exhausting weeks. Coldinchen needed one however, because I had gained the advantage through my activity as a miner.
To Coldinchen, the reputation was especially worth the effort, for she now owns the Seeker’s Gavel as well as the Sunward Crest – quite the best that we could get for starting PvP without playing any dungeons. Moreover, besides the numerous other Jewelcrafting recipes, she also got the pattern for the Figurine – Crimson Serpent – without doubt one of the best trinkets for our purposes, if not even the best.
I also indulged in some things: Inuuro’s Blade and the Dawnforged Defender, if ever I have to tank again. And of course, we both bought the Arcanum of the Gladiator. Actually, I’d rather have the Arcanum of Ferocity, because as a Warrior, I’m not dependent on every little point of resilience, but therefore still lack a good deal of hit rating (despite diligent socketing). But at the moment, we just don’t feel like even entering the Coilfang Reservoir. We haven’t been to a single dungeon there yet. Well, I think, one day we will catch up on that – we’ll see.
Last Sunday we got our first arena points! At our current rating of 767, we first wondered about the received 261 points – until Google enlightened me that nowadays, as long as you are below 1500, you always get the amount of points that you would get at a rating of 1500. Good to know.
The next day, we did another ten matches – stupidly, nine of them were against the same team, but that’s how it is in this relatively low rating bracket. Our opponents were a Paladin and a Warlock, who were not so easy at first! But then we got the knack and bade them farewell with a final score of 6 : 3. For our overall arena career, it’s 34 : 8 so far – meaning we were able to keep up our 80 per cent win rate. *g* But then we have only just reached a rating of 1025. I think, when it goes towards 1500, our losses are sure to become more frequent.
Apart from that, there is to tell that during the Brewfest, Coren Direbrew bequeathed a Great Brewfest Kodo to me. After that, we went there numerous times in order to obtain a second one for Coldinchen before the end of the fest on 4th October, but it just didn’t drop again. But then we found with surprise that Coren was still there after the 4th! Since then, we have continued to visit him every now and then, but not exactly regularly, so we still couldn’t snatch a second Kodo. It gets boring at some point …
